Welcome
The Whitworth Historical Society &
Heritage Museum
The Whitworth Historical Society is located at the Whitworth Heritage
Museum on North Street, Whitworth, which is in the borough of Rossendale
in East Lancashire. Following the Covid lockdowns, the museum reopened to
the public on Saturday 5th of June 2021, and since then our opening hours
have been from 11am to 4pm on Saturdays only. The society also operates a
very popular programme of monthly lectures, and these are usually held on
the first Wednesday of each month between the months of September and
June, but for the 2021-22 season they will be held at the Hallfold URC so
please do be sure to check our ‘Lectures’ or ‘News’ pages for any updates
about the current situation before travelling, as things may have to be
changed at short notice if the current situation should worsen once again.
We are always happy to hear from anyone with any artifacts or photographs
relating to Whitworth, which we might be able to add to our collection or
make copies of, but due to lack of storage space we can't usually take items
that don't have any sort of link with the area. If you have anything you might
like to donate or loan please do get in touch with us, we'd love to hear from
you. You can find out how to contact us via our 'contact' page.
